The Prettyboy Watershed Alliance is a citizen led group made up of individuals committed to protecting and restoring the watershed as a source of clean water.

PWA formed as a result of a two-year study on the Prettyboy region conducted by the Trust for Public Land. Click here to read about the TPL study.

Since December 2003 the Alliance has engaged hundreds of watershed residents from three counties and two states in watershed protection and education events and continually offers events through out the year for those wanting to be involved. Visit our "Get Involved" page to find out about Prettyboy Watershed Alliance Projects.

The Alliance has also established ongoing watershed protection programs:

  • Prettyboy watershed landowner stewardship program: supports and encourages landowners to use best management practices on their property

  • Streamwaders program: PWA volunteers are trained and equipped to carry out stream monitoring in partnership with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources
