Watershed Restoration Action Strategy (WRAS)
line

PWA is working jointly with State and County organizations to create a plan of conservation measures that will protect what is beautiful and healthy about the watershed, and restore any areas that have become degraded.  This plan identifies the problems affecting water quality, habitat, and living aquatic resources throughout the watershed.  It complies with the Clean Water Act which addresses pollution reduction known as Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) in the reservoir.

Streams have been walked, technical data has been collected and assessed, and a steering committee of professional environmentalists and concerned citizens have been working for two years to create a thorough plan for the protection and restoration of the watershed.

The vision developed for the WRAS is that by 2050, the watershed will have a balance of land uses with sustainable development; viable, productive agriculture; healthy sustainable forests; a clean and adequate drinking water supply; water quality that provides a healthy ecosystem with wildlife habitat and fishery; and, informed citizens who engage in good management practices on their own land.

To date there have been two community meetings – April, 2006 and January, 2007.  These meetings have provided the community with information regarding the WRAS. The success of the WRAS is in large measure dependent on citizen participation.  We who value this pristine area are being given the information and support we need to keep the Prettyboy Watershed the treasure that it is.  A third community meeting will be held at a later date. If you would like to be informed of the date please e-mail us.  An announcement will be sent out this summer.  For more information or to review the reports go to:
